Adrian Joseph Klein, 95 of Watkins, passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2017 at Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. Fr. Aaron Nett officiated. Music was by Kathy Pauls. Interment was in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins.
Adrian was born in Watkins on December 22nd, 1921 to Frank and Anna (Oster) Klein. He was baptized on December 25th, 1921. Adrian was very proud to say he graduated from Kimball High School in 1940.
After graduation Adrian farmed with his family and eventually Adrian and his brother Earl took over the family farm. In 1988 Adrian retired from farming and eventually sold his farm. However, even after selling his farm, he decided he wanted to continue working on the farm and did so for over a decade.
Adrian met his future bride Lorraine Koenig when he was out dancing. They were engaged in February 1959 and married on April 30th, 1959. They were married for 55 years. Adrian and Lorraine enjoyed driving around the countryside and their many trips to the casino. Adrian also enjoyed going to church bazaars where he and Lorraine won numerous cakes at the cake walks. Adrian liked watching the Vikings, the Twins, the Price is Right, and listening to polka music.
Adrian was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Adrian is survived by his friend, Dennis Libbesmeier, and his children, Jill, Mandy, and Patrick, as well as nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Zella Koenig. Adrian was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine in 2014; his parents Frank and Anna; brothers, Richard and Earl; brothers-in-law, Jerome, Delmar, and Leonard; sisters-in-law, Mabel, and Valeria.
A special thank you to Hilltop Care Center and Rice Hospice for the wonderful care provided to Adrian.
